30th Anniversary Cake August 9, 2008

Filed under: Anniversary Cakes — Gina Marie @ 1:03 pm

This cake is a white cake with vanilla buttercream icing. The “pearls” are white fondant rolled into balls & covered with silver pearl dust. The roses are vanilla buttercream, also.

We made this one for a friend’s parents’ 30th Anniversary party. According to tradition, the 30th Anniversary is the “Pearl Anniversary” so we did the pearls. The yellow roses were requested.

White cake layers filled with fresh strawberries covered in strawberry buttercream & gumpaste flowers. There is a little red food coloring added to this icing to make it a little more pink. The flowers one top were fresh flowers.

This was the other Wedding cake from the double Wedding. The other couple decided on the strawberry cake for their choice.

Italian Cream Wedding Cake August 3, 2008

Filed under: Wedding Cakes — Gina Marie @ 1:28 pm

White cake layers filled with vanilla pastry cream covered in almond buttercream. Fresh grapes were used for decoration.

This cake was for a double Wedding. One of the couples wanted a “traditional” white Wedding cake. The topper is the same one the Bride’s parents had on their Wedding cake. Those are also the parents that we just did the 30th Anniversary cake for.

Chocolate cake layers covered in chocolate ganache.

This was simple cake for another office party. A lot of people love this decadent cake because it is so chocolaty and rich. You just need a little slice and you are sent to “Chocolate Heaven!”

Strawberry Cake August 3, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Gina Marie @ 1:26 pm

White cake layers with fresh strawberries in between covered in strawberry buttercream.

This cake was a simple cake for an office party. Nothing fancy. It has real strawberry in the icing so it was light pink & you could see the little strawberry pieces in the icing.

Wedding Cake August 3, 2008

Filed under: Wedding Cakes — Gina Marie @ 1:24 pm

All yellow cake layers covered in vanilla buttercream icing.

This was a first try at a Wedding Cake after taking Cake Decorating classes at the local college. Not bad for the second time doing basket weave and roses. Since all the “proper” supplies weren’t available, the cake board was a little big for the second layer leaving it’s foil covering sticking out. Practice makes perfect & now we know. :0)

Lady Bug 2nd Birthday Cake August 3, 2008

Filed under: Birthday Cakes — Gina Marie @ 1:21 pm

Two yellow cake layers & one chocolate cake layer covered in vanilla buttercream.

This cake was for a little girl turning two. She loves lady bugs so we thought it would be fun to represent her turning two with two lady bugs! It was fun to make and they really loved the cake.

John Deere Tractor 5th Birthday Cake August 3, 2008

Filed under: Birthday Cakes — Gina Marie @ 1:18 pm

All yellow cake covered in vanilla buttercream icing with chocolate buttercream “tires.” The only thing that wasn’t icing was the headlights, they were big circle sugar sprinkles.

This cake was for the same boy who had the other John Deere cake. For his 5th Birthday, he just wanted a tractor cake & was super happy with this one!

John Deere Farm 4th Birthday Cake August 3, 2008

Filed under: Birthday Cakes — Gina Marie @ 1:13 pm

One yellow cake layer & one chocolate cake layer covered in chocolate fudge icing. The “grass” was coconut “dyed” green with food coloring. The tractors were die cast John Deere toys that belonged to the little boy this cake was for. The “logs” were pretzel sticks. The dirt was crushed Oreo cookie with the cream taken out. The farm animals were little plastic animals.

This cake was for a little boy turning 4. He is really big into John Deere and plans to be a farmer when he grows up. His whole room is decorated with John Deere stuff so he had plenty of tractors to choose from to put on the cake!

Cars 6th Birthday Cake August 3, 2008

Filed under: Birthday Cakes — Gina Marie @ 1:08 pm

One yellow cake layer & one chocolate cake layer covered in whipped chocolate icing. The Cars are actually plastic cars made especially for cakes (not nooks & crannies for icing to get stuck in). The “oil cans” were actually water squirters for goody bag fillers. There are little sugar Lightning McQueen & Tow Maters on the side.

This cake was for a joint Birthday party for two boys turning 6. Both boys were into the movie Cars and wanted to have a Cars themed cake. The really loved this cake.
